The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity tackling the most critical social health issues in the GTA. For more than 160 years, we have offered children, teens, young adults and families the opportunity for personal growth, community involvement, and leadership.
What we do
- Through child care services, education and training programs, employment and immigrant services, family and youth services and health and fitness programs, the YMCA is building healthy communities across the GTA.
- We support individuals throughout their lives – from childhood to retirement. Infants receive quality child care. Kids learn to swim and go to camp. Youth learn leadership skills. Teens stay safe on weekends. Adults find support for themselves and their families. And seniors stay active, healthy and engaged with our community.
- The YMCA of Greater Toronto believes everyone in our community should have access to programs and services to help them realize their potential and get and stay healthy – physically, socially and mentally – regardless of their financial situation. Almost 500,000 people use the programs and services the YMCA offers across the GTA annually, with a quarter of the GTA’s low-income population accessing YMCA programs and services.
At the YMCA, we take our commitments to the community seriously. We see a day when more people, especially youth, connect with each other, give of themselves, and grow in their sense of purpose and belonging. We envision an inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their background, experiences, or circumstances, participates fully. And we work towards building a community characterized by strong, supportive connections between individuals and among groups.
